January 2026 ~ What in your home earns its place?
Posted by katherine leary sebastian on

Hi friends~
I hope all is well & you're staying safe and warm! As we step into a new year, I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to 'carry' something both physically & emotionally and I'd love your thoughts.
2025 asked many of us to slow down, edit our lives, and question what we really need & where our priorities lie. January, especially, has a way of asking us to declutter: our homes, our habits, our closets. Less excess and more intention.
Which brings us to some questions: How many of the things in your home actually earn their place? What’s the last object you bought that you plan to keep for the next ten years? What gives an object value?
At ixöq, our pieces are handwoven by Guatemalan artisans using techniques passed down for generations. We believe appreciation lives in recognizing function, participating in a fair partnership, and showing respect for the work that goes into each piece. We also know it's important to have these conversations, and they’re not one-sided. We love our products & appreciate their value: to you; to the artisans; to the environment. But what do you think? We’d genuinely love to hear (please reply to this email with your thoughts!)
As you refresh your space this month, we invite you to think about the objects you choose to keep close. A bag that is your first to grab. A piece that earns its place by being more functional, beautiful, and meaningful. Something of sentimental value. Fewer things around us but better ones? Our ethos should reflect our customers ethos so we'd love to know what you think.
If January is about clearing out, let it also be about choosing what stays.
