May 2026 ~ Small ideas for smoother summers!

Posted by katherine leary sebastian on

Hi friends ~

There’s a certain point in May where everything begins to broaden. Days get longer, windows stay open, dinners drift outside, weekends start filling in. It’s a time that asks us to carry more with us--not only our standard contents, but snacks, towels, flowers from the market, sunscreen, umbrellas, extra layers, plans! ... things that gather & grow casually throughout the day.

This month, we’ve been especially drawn to the subtle practicality of ixöq pieces that integrate & work together. Clutches tucked inside larger Cestas. Our square storage boxes that divide space naturally inside our larger cesta totes, to help organize & protect items. A mini tote tucked inside an XL tote holding your essentials, and allowing for a quick grad and go. Small essentials grouped together inside a carry-all instead of floating loosely from place to place (hello, scratched sunglasses!). The combinations feel intuitive, flexible, and especially suited for the movement of summer.

Create a flexible summer system that feels collected instead of chaotic! Our pieces are all lightweight, washable, and durable, so that they move easily from home to market to beach to park and back.

Here are some of our favorite solutions:

  • Use two square boxi cubes inside a Medium Cesta to naturally divide snacks, sunscreen, and personal items at your next outing!
  • Take a bottle of wine or flowers to friend in one of our cylindrical containers, which later doubles as a plant pot, pencil cup or catch-all.

• Keep a lidded Catch-All inside your cesta for smaller essentials like lip balm, hair ties, knick-knacks, & chargers.

• Place travel toiletry bottles inside a Clutch inside larger totes to reduce spills and keep everything upright while traveling.

• Use Mini Cestas inside XL totes as built-in organizers for passports, wallets, AirPods, etc... when traveling. Thread the strap of your XL through the band of the mini to secure your bag to your luggage when traveling!

• Bring structure to beach days by nesting smaller pieces inside larger ones that double as serving dishes, beach waste baskets (just add a bag or bin liner), or ice buckets.

• Use our storage baskets & cubes at outdoor dinners to organize utensils, napkins, or fruit while still looking elevated. Add a re-useable cloth or placemat within the basket to style your next picnic.

• Transition seamlessly from errands to gatherings by moving clutches and minis between larger bags without repacking. I keep my wallet and on-the-go essentials easily stowed so I can run from markets to dinners on the fly!

• Attach charms and keychains to larger carry-alls for quick identification, personalization, and easy access.

We'd love to hear your creative uses of ixöq pieces. Reply back to this email if you have found a cool way to create ixöq sets!

One of our favorite parts of summer is how easily community forms outdoors. A blanket at the park, fresh fruit from the market, a shared bottle of wine, neighbors lingering a little longer after sunset. Some of the best gatherings are really the most simple.

All summer season, we encourage you to explore what’s happening locally: outdoor movie nights, farmers markets, Pride nights, free concerts, community gardens, neighborhood festivals, and market events often become the backdrop for memorable summer fun.

Do you have a favorite event coming up? Share it with us by replying to this email --we read every response & love to hear from you! And check out some of our favorites in the DC area (listed below)

This summer, there are more ways than ever to see us & shop ixöq. As the season gets under way, we'll be popping up at a series of markets across the DC area. If you’re nearby, come find us. If you’ve never experienced ixöq in person, this is your moment!
